How the price is calculated
Duration of licence
Monographs are publications devoted to the work of one artist and are licensed differently from other books.
Licence prices for monographs are calculated on a royalty basis, or a percentage of the retail selling price multiplied by the print run. The royalty rate is subject to agreement with us on behalf of the relevant artist.
The artist or their estate may request payment in full or a non-returnable advance payment which will be recouped against future royalties.
Comparative artworks in monographs are licensed in accordance with the table of prices stated for exhibition catalogues.

Monographs, or books devoted to the work of a single artist, are priced differently from books that cover more than one artist. There is an additional charge for digital versions and other website reproductions.
The artist subject of the monograph or the relevant copyright holder usually participates in the success of a monograph by charging a royalty fee which takes the parameters of the publication into account but does generally not depend on the numbers of works used.
In the case of comparative works a charge is made per reproduction. Comparative artworks are charged based on the
exhibition catalogue tariff. Prices stated exclude VAT. Where appropriate, discounts may be available when a large number of works are licensed for a project.
You must inform us about your plans to print your publication in a language other than English when you apply for a licence.
Our fees are set irrespective of the size of the reproduction and whether it is reproduced in colour or black and white.
All prices are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change. Our members reserve the right to override our standard fees.
We review our licensing prices annually. This allows us to keep in-touch with changes in the industry and technological advances, so we can create relevant and robust licences that benefit both our customers and artists.
Should any price changes affect your industry, we shall notify you at least 14 days in advance.
Our monograph licences have a flexible term and are negotiable with the copyright owner.
If your use or the format of your use changes, you will need to apply for a new licence.
Renewing or extending a licence
If you wish to renew or extend a licence you will need to submit a new request.
