DACS talking about copyright at New Creative Markets

DACS is speaking to visual artists and creative freelancers about copyright and earning an income from your rights on Thursday 13 February 2014. This continues our partnership with SPACE Studios on their professional development programme, New Creative Markets.

Copyright helps artists earn a living

Our Copyright Advisor Alastair Keatley will be speaking to current participants of New Creative Markets about the essentials of copyright – how it protects creative work and how it also provides a valuable source of income for artists.

We’ll highlight what to look out for in contracts, as well as talk about our three rights management services: PaybackArtist’s Resale Right and Copyright Licensing.

The talk takes place at 6.30pm - 8.30pm at SPACE Studios in East London. It is open to artists and creative professionals who are current participants in the New Creative Markets programme.

New Creative Markets is a free advice programme aimed to help artists, designers and designer-makers increase the sales of their work and achieve greater sustainability.

It offers a series of industry-tailored workshops, one-to ones and talks on subjects as varied as gallery representation, digital presence, copyright and business planning.

Run by SPACE, with Cockpit ArtsFour Corners and Photofusion, it is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

We’ve been involved as a strategic partner since the programme launched in October 2012, to raise artists’ awareness of how copyright supports them.

Artists and creatives can begin applying to the next round of the programme from 17 February 2014.
