Are you eligible?

  • Are you a visual artist whose artwork is resold through galleries, auction houses or art dealers?
  • Does your work sell for €1000 or more?
  • Are you a UK national, or a national of a country in the European Economic Area (EEA)?

If you answered yes to all three questions, you may be entitled to resale royalties.

How it works

  1. 1. Sign up to our Artist’s Resale Right service

    You can apply online or complete the form and return it to us.

  2. 2. We then monitor the UK art market for any resales of your work

    As the creator of the work, you may be entitled to a royalty if the sale price is €1,000 or more.

  3. 3. We collect these royalties on a quarterly basis

    We ask art dealers, auctioneers and other art market professionals to send us details of their sales. If your work has been resold for €1,000 or more and provided all qualifying criteria are met, we will collect a royalty on your behalf.

  4. 4. You receive royalties

    Once we receive a royalty payment, we will transfer the money owed to you within 30 days. As a not-for-profit organisation, we retain 15% of any royalty we collect on your behalf to cover our costs.
