Calling all visual artists and their estates – take part in the European Commission’s consultation on copyright in the EU, to protect your work and livelihood. The deadline has now been extended to Wednesday 5 March 2014.
Act now to safeguard your work and livelihood
The consultation has been launched to review current copyright rules in the EU, particularly in reference to the digital space.
Anyone can take part, from visual artists and estates relying on copyright to protect their work and support their income to everyday consumers of culture.
DACS urges all artists and their estates - including fine artists, photographers, illustrators, architects and designers - to make their voices heard.
Contribute your views before the consultation closes on Wednesday 5 March 2014.
How can I take part?
Our friends at
PRS for Music have produced a simplified online version of the consultation questionnaire to make it easier for creators to submit their views.
Whilst some of the wording is tailored to music artists, creators of all types can use the tool. You don't need to answer all the questions, only those which are relevant to your experience as an artist.
Complete the questionnaire now.
Some guidance:
-
Under ‘Type of respondent’ artists and their estates should select ‘Author/Performer or representative of authors/performers’
-
‘Right holder’ or ‘rightsholder’ refers to creators or estates who have inherited the copyright of a deceased artist
-
Questions which reference ‘musical works’ or musicians may still apply to artistic works and visual artists
-
‘Collective management organisation’ refers to collecting societies such as DACS or PRS for Music
Make sure you submit your views by
Wednesday 5 March.
