The Turner Prize 2013 exhibition at Ebrington in Derry~Londonderry, Northern Ireland, is now open. DACS artists David Shrigley and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye are shortlisted for the prize.
The Turner Prize 2013 shortlist
The prestigious prize is well-known for opening up widespread topical discussion about contemporary art.
This year it is being presented outside of England for the first time in Derry~Londonderry, Northern Ireland, currently the first
UK City of Culture.
The exhibition of nominated artists - taking place at Ebrington, a former military barracks site - has just opened to the public and will be running until 5 January 2014.
The following artists are shortlisted:

David Shrigley - For his solo exhibition, David Shrigley: Brain Activity, at the Hayward Gallery. Visitors to the Turner Prize show will be able to experience his larger-than-life recreation of a life drawing class.

Laure Prouvost – For Wantee, commissioned with Grizedale Arts for Tate Britain’s Schwitters in Britain exhibition, and her installation for the Max Mara Art Prize for Women in conjunction with Whitechapel Gallery. She presents Wantee, a multimedia installation which evokes her grandparents’ former home.

Lynette Yiadom-Boakye - For her Chisenhale Gallery exhibition, Extracts and Verses. She exhibits a series of paintings of fictional, androgynous-looking black figures.

Tino Sehgal – For This Variation at documenta (XIII) and These Associations at Tate Modern. He presents a participatory live work in which visitors are invited to engage in one-on-one discussions in exchange for monetary rewards.

The overall winner will be announced at a ceremony on Monday 2 December 2013 and broadcast on Channel 4. The winning artist will receive £25,000 and the other shortlisted artists £5,000 each.
Last year’s Turner Prize winner was Elizabeth Price for her video installation,
The Woolworths Choir of 1979.
