The Artists Fund announces awarded artists

Following an open application process in May 2016, The Artists Fund announces the eight, talented artists awarded grants and commissions in its pilot round.

    The awarded artists

The Artists Fund was set-up by a-n the Artists Information Company, Artquest and DACS with the purpose of distributing small but transformative funding to visual artists in the UK.

As part of a pilot round, five grants and three commissions have been awarded to the following artists:

    Grants

    Commissions

The grants, of £1,000 each, aim to support an artist’s practice in its broadest sense, from the development of new work to essentials such as such as materials, development or fees.

The commissions, worth £2,000 each, will test assumptions made in the art world about how artists can raise money using their practice, beyond selling their work, and the viability of how artists might earn in the future.

The artists were selected by a panel which included Gilane Tawadros, Chief Executive, DACS, and our members Gordon Cheung and Sally Sheinman.
