Help DACS add up the art industry

Are you a DACS member? Take our short online survey and inform our research into the financial contribution of visual artists to the UK’s creative economy. You could even win a hotel voucher worth £300!

Calculating the financial contribution of visual artists

The survey findings will contribute to an exciting new report entitled Adding Up The Art Industry, which will be published later this year.

It will seek to calculate the financial contribution of visual artists in the UK from 2013-2015 - including fine artists, photographers and illustrators. It will also look at average earnings, building on our research in 2011

The report will shape future arts and funding policy, as well as help us improve and develop our services for visual artists and their estates.

We’re delighted to be working with Media Insight Consulting on the report, who have previously undertaken similar research on behalf of the music industry.

Take our survey and win £300 in hotel vouchers!

If you’re a member of DACS, we’d love to hear from you.

What’s more, you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win £300 to spend at Hilton Hotels & Resorts on accommodation, spa treatments and dining.

The survey should take no longer than five to ten minutes and you will need the following information from 2013, 2014 and 2015 to hand:
    • value of monies received to create art (e.g. government grants, non-government commissions, funds from galleries in anticipation of sales, and residencies.)
    • total sales earnings
    • what percentage of those earnings was taken by intermediaries (e.g. dealers, auction houses, galleries)
Whilst exact figures are preferable, a good estimate is also very helpful.
