DACS to join Michael Craig-Martin at DACS Foundation’s Art360 conference

Gilane Tawadros and Mark Waugh from DACS join an exciting line-up of speakers at DACS Foundation’s conference, ‘Art360: The Gift and its Legacy’, on Friday 19 February 2016 at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Exploring the legacy of artists’ gifts

Hosted by DACS Foundation and Goldsmiths, University of London, 'Art360: The Gift and its Legacy' will explore emerging trends in arts funding, such as the increased support from artists and artists' estates as champions and donors, and increased gifting from commercial galleries and private collectors.

The conference is the first public event of Art360, DACS Foundation’s flagship project exploring best practice for capturing, curating and disseminating the cultural heritage of British artists.

Key discussion themes of the day include:
    • the artist as philanthropist
    • the role of the artist foundation
    • how artists can create a living legacy
    • how the art market has influenced the gifting of art

Speakers from DACS will include Gilane Tawadros, Chief Executive; Mark Waugh, Head of Research and Innovation; and Mary Moore, Board Director and member of DACS.

They join speakers from across the visual arts including Michael Craig-Martin, artist; Emily Butler, Whitechapel Gallery; Scott Furlong, Arts Council England; Ann Gallagher, Tate; Candida Gertler, Outset Contemporary Art Fund; James Green, Newlyn Art Gallery; Keir McGuinness, DACS Foundation; Sarah Philp, Art Fund; Simon Sheikh, Goldsmiths, University of London; Christine Vincent, The Aspen Institute and Loretta Würtenberger, Fine Art Partners.

The conference will be chaired by Richard Noble, Head of the Department of Art at Goldsmiths.
