Copyright Consultation

DACS' response to the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) Consultation on Copyright.

At the end of 2011, the UK Government launched an important consultation on copyright which proposes a number of significant changes to copyright in the UK and to the protection and remuneration visual artists currently enjoy.

Over a three week period in January-February 2012, DACS surveyed visual artists in relation to selected issues raised in the Government’s Consultation on Copyright:

 - Extended Collective Licensing
 - Orphan Works
 - Moral Rights
 - Codes of Conduct for collecting societies
 - Copyright exceptions: education
 - Copyright exceptions: private copying
 - Copyright exceptions: parody

The artists' survey was disseminated through DACS’ own networks as well as via other UK arts organisations, and through social media platforms such as Twitter. It attracted 1063 responses.

We submitted our response to the copyright consulation on 21 March 2012.
