Beyond Time - William Turnbull

The documentary Beyond Time journeys into the life and work of artist William Turnbull (1922-2012) widely recognised as one of the pioneers of modernism in Britain.

The film chronicles William Turnbull's intimate involvement in the critical developments of modern art. Exploring his experiences in Paris, London and New York where he befriended and worked alongside artists like Alberto Giacometti, Richard Hamilton, Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman, the film gives an insightful account into the life of one of the great masters of 20th-century art. 

BBCFour will be showing Beyond Time-William Turnbull on Tuesday 12 March at 10.30pm.
