Artangel, in collaboration with BBC Radio Four, has launched its £1 million Open initiative to support commissions of new site specific artworks in the UK. Artists working in any media can apply by 28 February 2014.
Transforming the UK’s cultural landscape
The £1 million initiative has led to some of the most exciting site specific work of the past decade, including Michael Landy’s public destruction of all his possessions in
Break Down and Roger Hiorns’
Seizure, which saw a London council flat taken over by blue crystal.
Both artists receive royalties from DACS through our Artist’s Resale Right and Copyright Licensing services.
Katrina Palmer and Ben Rivers were selected in last year’s Open call. You can read more about their proposals on the
Artangel website.
How to apply to Open 2014
Applications are open to UK-based artists working in any media including film, sound, text and dance.
Your project can take place anywhere in the UK. This year, proposals are also actively being sought for projects taking place in the digital space.
You can apply individually, in collaboration with other artists, or with a producer or curator.
Submit your proposal using Artangel’s online form.
The deadline is 6pm, 28 February 2014.
